Autotrader.ca/Buysell.com Vehicle Purchasing Scam!
Now how is it possible that a scam artist tries to scam you buying buying something from you? It is alot easier than you might think. Through a simple process of steps, a person may scam you by doing the following things in order:
#1 E-Mail you stating that they are interested in your car and would like to know the lowest price for your vehicle. They may ask for more pictures of the car as well.
#2 Tell you that they are out of country and unable to view the car. (My scammer was in China on buisness)
#3 They will pay through PayPal. Don't fall for this even though it sounds impossible to scam PayPal.
#4 Once payment has been made to you, you may be asked to wire money in order to pay for pick-up costs or whatever.
#5 This is the most important. Once The car has been confirmed as picked up, the scammer calls the credit company, and states that the payment was not approved by him, making you seem like the thief. Now you are being charged with theft and/or fraud AND you have no car or money. Scam complete.
I was lucky enough to have a somewhat careless scammer contact me. In the most recent message, the person told me that DAS Shipping Company was to be the courier and that the car would be sent to China after he got paid. Wait what? After WHO got paid? Yes I'm serious thats what the message actually stated. This person also goes by numerous names, other than Beverly Sturgill. I pray you all have not fallen for this. Best of luck!

I also nearly fell for "Beverly's" trap. one of the worst thought out scams I have ever heard of. I have learnt that simply googleing someones name before making a transaction can save you a lot of money and embarassment.

I just started communicating with "Beverly" couple of days ago as I have a car for sale. It was fishy for me from the day one...but I need to sell the car. Thank you for this report!!!
Should this be reported as I’m in the waiting period for payment?

A good way to circumvent this scam strategy and make sure you are not defrauded is to is to use a *bona fide* online escrow company for the deal. Especially for pricier items like antiques, jewelry and autos. Although it does add some cost, it takes the uncertainty out of the transaction, and that’s a small price to pay for peace of mind.
For my money, the best bona fide online escrow (and there seems to be ten fraudulent escrow sites for every bona fide one) is probably Escrow.com (http://escrow.com). In fact, it’s the only one that eBay recommends, and is the only online escrow company that is licensed to provide escrow services all across the United States.
PS. For more information about avoiding online scams and frauds, go to Online Escrow at Wordpress.com (http://onlineescrow.wordpress.com/)

A running-club friend of mine happens to be one of the most inspiring people I've ever met. He's 82 and has filled the years of his life to the brim with family, friends and community. He didn't run his first marathon until he was in his 70s, but then only because he had already put in the necessary miles ugg scuffette slippers training for an Ironman triathlon! His daughter persuaded him to do the Ironman because she wanted to train with her dad. He's now done several. He's incredibly spry, never too busy to stop and shoot the breeze, and incredibly supportive of the entire club. Recently I asked him what it felt like to finish an Ironman and he replied, "Oh, you know, it's not that bad. In a lot of ways I think the marathon is worse," because he knows I run marathons. When I replied that an Ironman includes a marathon, he just cracked a smile and asked what races I had on the docket. This past year, he qualified for nhl clothing Boston with literally one second to spare, and said it was one of the proudest moments of his life because his great-grandson herve leger outlet was there to witness his big finish.

Add "Sean Steven" to the scammers list.
I doubted his inquiry was real, then I saw his reply which was pretty much exactly as described above.
