Were there anymore problems after this?
I was stupid, and i used the credit card info that the model gave me. Will i be in trouble?
Please Help.
Thank you.

No, so far there seems to be no problem they will however send you a notice to your email you used for the site. The email will start off as follows: We have been notified by our billing company that they have processed a dispute from your card for the $X amount that was charged.
Now then since this was not your card it will not harm your credit rating. Secondly its a scam, I put in all my email exchanges above with the company. The emails have ceased nor have I gotten any noticed from my "local police department" on this matter.
Its a promotional scam by the company, if your tricked into believing it, they gain extra money. However if you see it for what it is, you gave temporary access to seeing these sluts preform for you.
All I can suggest is to keep the chat log of this model you had with, and if your possibly paranoid reset your IP address by turning off your computer, modem and router for 5 minutes. Then proceed with turning them back on.
I have a long tiresome history of annoying people trying to get me to join their webcam services, feel free to write back if you need more info.

I was also scammed. Did you guys end up not paying it? If so, how long has it been since then?

Hey man, thanks so much for replying, but what concerns me is that even though this may have been a scam by the webcam site streamate, the model gave me that creditcard number and i used it.
what if in the first place this credit card was a stolen one? what if the model had skimmed the credit card from a stranger, and now that original owner of the card complains, and they figure out the credit card was used from this particular IP address?
I am skeptical. sigh. how stupid of me, i never should have done it in the first place,
but yes, as you suggested i proly should reset my IP address.
Hey thanks so much for your support man.

But one more thing, my ISP gives me only static external IP, and i can never change that. i should switch my ISP altogether for changing my IP...
Scared!
should never be this stupid from now.
Learnt my lesson.
*Prays God that nothing should happen*

Unfortunately my knowledge of IP addreses are limited, I can ask my brother about this later he graduated as a computer science major. From what I can tell tho, from <a href="http://www.whatismyip.com" title="http://www.whatismyip.com">http://www.whatismyip.com</a>, after finding my IP, I did the "IP lookup" it doesn't give a pin point location of your address. More it gives you possible location within several blocks or more.
This is all assuming they have your IP, I doubt they stated your IP in any the emails, or your address.
To review: I talked with the model on Sat, 11/13/10, then on 12/2/10 I received notice from streamate about an issue with the credit card used. Credit Card theft and Identity theft typically go hand in hand with the research I have done, Identity definitely doesn't play a factor here. As for credit card theft, you did nothing to acquire this information in the first place. At the time the model, gave it to you, it was nothing more than a means to gain access to the site, as if for instance it was a special promotional code. At the time did you have any evidence to suggest that it was stolen, etc?

@so_stupid_of_me_too
The link below is, a man from Great Britain, who had similar problems as both of us back in Thu 2008-Sep-25. He like us signed into a site for help, his however he payed a minimum fee below so he could get feedback from lawyers(my interpretation along with membership status, junior/senior) who choose to take a look into this matter. From what I believe, and what seemed to be the final consensus of the senior members that this is a Scam. Please feel free to view through the forum linked at the bottom of this comment at your leisure. Please note this is why after I stated my case on the scam, I provided information and the URL as sources for other people to look into.

I'll help where I can, but I am still waiting to see if my own local law enforcement will be involved. I doubt it will because I am reasonably confident this is a scam. Secondly I was also sent a number or recites refunds that ironically amount for a few dollars more than the amount of money they wanted me to send to that P. O Box. Rather bizarre, but means they gave the money back....supposedly, therefor there should be nothing to be asked to collect for.
My last contact with the company sending me any emails was on Friday, December 3, 2010, 4:50 PM.

<a href="http://forum.freeadvice.com/arrests-searches-warrants-procedure-26/stupid-but-innocent-what-do-i-do-443421.html" title="http://forum.freeadvice.com/arrests-searches-warrants-procedure-26/stupid-but-innocent-what-do-i-do-443421.html">http://forum.freeadvice.com/arrests-searches-warrants-procedure-26/stupi...</a>

Oh, and out of shock that this may affect me, as soon as i realised this was a scam, i deleted my email account through which i signed up for the site.

Yes, i never had any information that it was stolen, but isn't there some law that states its a crime to use another person's credit card unless and untill you have his/her permission?
In this case the credit card may have been a stolen one, and this model by giving out the info, was trying to get me in trouble, because i would be the one actually using it.
Did you infact use the info of the credit card that model gave you?
So you're using a credit card which doesn't belong to you. this is what is bothering me.
Even though this website may be a scam, what about the original owner of the credit card?
what if he/she logs a complaint and they trace the use of that particular credit card to a particular IP, like mine.

And, i tried to visit that link you've given, but it seems to be broken, it says " can't open the page".
Can you please tell what is in the link?
And did this man from Great Britain experience any troubling issues?

Hey, any new developments?
Did they contact you further?
Anything happen at all ?

I'm in the same boat as So Stupid of me.
Here's hoping it's all a scam.

Alright first thing, to find out bout the Guy in Britan, you can simply google search "Stupid but Innocent, what do I do" as a copy and paste. It will be the very first link with the domain of forum.freeadvice.com or try this link <a href="http://forum.freeadvice.com/arrests-searches-warrants-procedure-26/stupid-but-innocent-what-do-i-do-443421.html" title="http://forum.freeadvice.com/arrests-searches-warrants-procedure-26/stupid-but-innocent-what-do-i-do-443421.html">http://forum.freeadvice.com/arrests-searches-warrants-procedure-26/stupi...</a>

Next as I provided above, those are all the emails received by them. I still have yet to hear from streammate.com, any investigations like firm, or by my local police department. As mentioned in their email they were threatening to charge me. A scam, is a trick, and to a certain extent a bluff. I didn't fall for it, and played them at their own game to a certain extent as seen above. All it is, some bastards within the company or the company itself attempting to get extra profit by fooling some poor smucks. I don't plan to worry about it, till something new comes up nor should anyone reading this thread. Only purpose was to help make the internet public aware of this fraud and scam tactics of streammate.com. Hope this helps. Feel free to post evidence of your own dealing (email exchanges, story, etc) with this company. Have a merry Christmas and a happy New Years.

I read all of the above but I think I went a little deeper down the rabbit hole then most. It first started with some girl adding me and promising "she" would use "her" credit card to pay for me to see her. She sent me a link to the website and I ended up making an account with the card number she gave me. After this she got me to click on her picture thing which brought me to a video of her, she then told me to click the red private video chat button bellow which brought me to another video of her. When I clicked the private video chat she popped up and we chatted until it said my daily limit of $150 was reached. At this point I began getting worried so I googled it and found this forum which explains more but still scares me a little. Does the fact that I accepted the private video chat mean I'm screwed? Also I gave the site a fake street address and Postal code, and does the fact that I pretended to be American when I'm Canadian help? I just turned 19 a few days ago and do not have a credit card of my own and luckily the msn chat I had with her telling me all this would be free is saved on my computer. Unfortunately I did give them my real first and last name along with the town I live in. (which was kind of stupid of me) Please let me know if I'm screwed, this just happened an hour ago.

@iwasscammed

Hopefully nothing will happen.
Because, Basically its a SCAM.
Yeah.
Pray to God :)

they just tried to rip me off. i didn't bite though

they just tried to rip me off. I didn't bite though

@iwasscammed and so_stupid_of_me_too

same thing just happened to me a little over an hour ago. I am scared it is real even though it seems to be a scam. After I realized, I called streammate customer support and they told me the account would not be able to be accessed again, and my ip and info would be handed to the authorities. This all seems to fit with the scam described in the whole thread, but the fact that I called makes me even more scared. has anything come of anyones emails?

**praying to god**

If you look at the original date, and to my post now. There has been no contact again by them or any law enforcement agency acting in their part. Think of it either as a scam, a trick, or a sketchy sales promotion. Its instant profit for them if it works, and on the spread sheet looks like their sales increase. However if you take it at face value or try to beat them at their game its free porn. I do know of 1 aim and one hotmail sn that regularly does this. I am considering about making a report on them. I have seldom tested it, but when it does work, obviously its free access to a site. But I suspected a deeper cause, that this person is stealing credit cards via some means, and then to lesson their liability should they get caught, they in the process have you test what card info works and which doesn't.

So if you are reading this, do not pay stream mate, and be careful when dealing with porn sites. They count on it being embarrassing for YOU to explain their sketchy tactics, to credit card company, the bank or w.e. That embarrassment or fear of being humiliated is the prod to get you to dish out the bucks to them.

Also scammed a couple days ago. Does anyone have new information for how long its been since they threatened you? My total is only $97 which made me actually think about paying it...but I'm most likely just going to take my chances and not pay

so here is wut i noticed after reading this entire thread, i was on streamate, and one day i get on, i can't do anything, so i think none of it, a WEEK N HALF later, i get that same email saying i have to pay, if i don't they'll turn all the info of my logged IP into the 5-0. so if i had racked up such an insurmountable debt, why would they want to tell me this almost a couple weeks after i'd lost access.

Hello Everyone,

I want to tell you guys that Streamate is NOT a scam. I was a former model there and also a member of the site myself. Streamate has been really honest and on time about payments and everything. They never overcharged me and would always send me an email about what Ive spent on the site.

What I suspect happening here is there are dishonest affiliates try to MAKE MONEY OFF STREAMATE by having people sign up. Streamate has an affiliate program which pays $40 for any free sign up that you bring to the site. (see: wm.mtree.com) I think thats why the "girls" on your messenger are making you sign up through some links. I do remember when I used to be on cam, every now and then I would have someone in my room and say, "I signed up for you baby (I came here for you), arent you [any name here] on yahoo/ychat (etc)?" I think they are the same girls you guys are talking about here. Obviously these guys had been tricked to join the site to see me. I didnt use messenger at all to promote myself, nor would streamate do that to promote their models. U have to understand Streamate is one of the biggest cam sites on the internet and they dont need to do scammy little stuff as this. Everyday there are numerous members spending BIG money on the site. What you guys describe here is ILLEGAL and any site owners would be stupid to scam a few bucks but risk losing their sites and going to jail. You can go take a look at compete.com and see their ranking and number of visitors, etc.

I dont know how/what I could do to help but I would suggest contacting Streamate and avoid those random girls' links on messenger, especially when you are asked to put some fake CC info.

p.s. You can see how busy the site is by spending some time looking around to see how many real members are really enjoying.

p.s. Above some guy said something about they scammed you because they knew you would be afraid to talk to the CC company about the porn experience --> SO not true. If I was scammed, I would say it as it is.

Good luck everyone. Hope this helps and ask me anything if you need any information.

I'd just like to bump and I was wondering if anything actually happened to all of you?

I'd just like to bump and I was wondering if anything actually happened to all of you?

Folks, I just had the same thing happen. The person told me it was a promotional credit card, with free access, since she said she thought I was cute. So me being an idiot I believed her. I put one of my email addresses in there but the girl gave me another name and address in the U.S. and now I'm looking at a $66 bill, I will gladly pay this instead of getting in trouble for doing something illegal. What should I do, and has anyone been caught besides this guy in britain?? Thanks

So this happened to me too yesterday. I was half awake and decided, hey why not take a shot at it. I woke up in the middle of the night and realized how stupid I was to believe it and started looking up things online and found this site. So here's the situation they gave me a billing receipt for the past 12 hours, but then they didn't ask me to pay. Also, I used a fake address, and a fake e-mail address. I'm just putting out what happened to me, I'll update you guys later on. Any thoughts on what I can do right now?

@gah so stupid: don't worry cuz we nothing has changed, they haven't came to us bout anything, nor have they sent anymore emails

I honestly have had it with streamate. It was pain in the ass to get a refund for some bullshit eroticmatch.net. Dont not sign up streamate, they will sign you for extra shit, give out you info to them and charge your shit under streamate and say they didnt. I had to curse out atleast 3 bitches before i got any where. They try everything in their power to not and refund you and epoch as well. This bitch thought she was slick and i caught her in a lie about what sites they run and what sites they dont. Last chick I had refunded my money and said it would 7 - 10 before i could get it back which sound funny because everything is electronic now a days, it should only take seconds and i called epoch and they said that seen she had refunded and I blocked them and streamate for having contact with me again. If they had models that I actually like, there would be a bittersweet feeling but most of them are mean as hell anyways
